United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, often referred to as “Africa’s Global Bank,” is gearing up to showcase the rich culinary traditions and diverse flavors of Africa with its upcoming “Tastes of Africa Food Festival.” This vibrant celebration of the continent’s cuisine, culture, and diversity will take place during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Meetings in New York, United States, on September 20, 2023.

The UBA Tastes of Africa Food Festival aims to bring together a diverse community of attendees, including UNGA participants and Africans residing in New York, for a delectable journey through the flavors of Africa. This event will shine a spotlight on the continent’s remarkable history and cultural tapestry.

Sola Yomi-Ajayi, the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of UBA America, highlighted that UBA, as a global financial institution with African roots, has chosen to promote culture through food to foster connections across borders. The festival promises a delightful array of African delicacies prepared by seasoned chefs, creating an immersive experience in the vibrancy of African traditions. Renowned chefs from Africa and North America, including Chef Jay from Cote d’Ivoire and Chef Eros from Nigeria, will be on hand to showcase their culinary expertise, offering an unforgettable experience to event participants and spectators. They will be joined by other chefs of African origin living in the United States.

Yomi-Ajayi expressed, “As Africa’s global bank, UBA is committed to connecting Africa to the world. Our vision extends beyond borders, and we see ourselves as more than just a financial institution. Hosting the Tastes of Africa Food Festival at the UNGA Meetings in New York is a thrilling opportunity to not only savor the exquisite flavors of African cuisine but also celebrate the richness of African culture. This event exemplifies UBA’s dedication to promoting cultural diversity and unity, bridging continents through the universal language of food. We invite everyone to join us in this exciting event.”

Through initiatives like the Tastes of Africa Food Festival, UBA aims to create platforms that facilitate cultural exchange, strengthen ties between Africa and the international community, and showcase the continent’s vast potential. By celebrating Africa’s culinary and cultural richness on the global stage, UBA seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of the continent and build lasting connections that drive progress, innovation, and prosperity for all.

UBA is a leading pan-African financial institution, serving over thirty-seven million customers through a vast network of business offices and customer touch points in 20 African countries.
