Since her first marriage to Abiodun Kuku, whose father is the Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland, Chief Bayo Kuku, crashed a few years ago, everyone wondered why former Miss Funke Fowler hadn’t remarried.
The wedding between the Fowlers and Kukus was indeed the grandest of the year 2013.
Their traditional wedding at the Tafawa Balewa Square had over three thousand guests in attendance. As a matter of fact, they were quartered in expensive marquees that were imported specifically for that purpose.
Mr. Tunde Fowler, who was then the Chairman, Lagos State Internal Revenue Service wowed everyone with his daughter’s formal wedding in Dubai. Guests flew in business class from Lagos, and abroad to partake in the awe-inspiring wedding. They were lodged in five-star hotels.
Now more mature and older, Olufunke Leila Fowler got herself a gentleman, Aigbovbioise Aig-Imoukhuede.
In what appeared to be a low-key, albeit, classy ceremony, Funke and Aigbovbioise got married on Saturday, April 13, in Lagos.
Venue was the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
However, last Thursday, April 11, Funke and Aigbovbioise performed the traditional and engagement leg of their wedding ceremony. The event was held at the bride’s family residence in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos. Her maternal grandmother, the iconic Chief (Mrs) Leila Apinke Fowler, MFR, played the Chief hostess.
The bride, Olufunke is the creative director of RTW fashion line, Heritage. She is the daughter of Tunde Fowler, the chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS and his wife, Rosemary, an African-American from Wisconsin, the United States of America, USA.
A graduate of Economics from the University of Nottingham, Funke holds an MBA from the American International University, Atlanta Georgia, USA.
Aigbovbioise Aig-Imoukhuede is the Head of Coronation Capital Markets, a division of Coronation Merchant Bank. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria. Aigbovbiose holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Studies from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom. He is the son of Frank Aig-Imoukhuede, veteran journalist, poet, playwright and author. His elder siblings are Aigboje Imokhuede, the former Managing Director of Access Bank; and Kemi Balogun, the wife of Ladi Balogun
