A yet-to-be-identified Vehicle Inspection Officer has reportedly died after being crushed by a truck opposite Mega Primary School on Hospital Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
A video of the incident shared on Friday by Akure-based radio station Crest FM showed residents shouting and gathering at the scene following the fatal collision.
According to eyewitnesses, the officer attempted to intercept the truck while it was in the fast lane but was unable to stop the vehicle before it struck him.
The officer was reportedly trapped beneath the trailer, leaving people at the scene distressed.

The footage also captured some of his colleagues appearing panicked as residents shouted and gathered around the truck.
The circumstances leading to the incident, including why the officer attempted to stop the truck, were not immediately clear.
