Their parents died same day in an inferno that happened when Toke Makinwa was eight years old.
For those who read her must-tell book, ‘On Becoming” you would have read how her parents died as a result of a gas explosion when she was eight years old. The three girls of the deceased then lived with their relatives till they were of age.
Toke would always narrate her parents’ story with grief but today, the Idanre Ondo State-born On Air-Personality/TV presenter is celebrating with her siblings—Ope and Busayo— as one of them gets married to a white man.
The bride, Busayo, is Toke’s younger sister and the wedding holds today in Lagos.
An excited Toke wrote on social media:
“I can’t keep calm… my baby sister is getting married ? God has been so faithful to us? Today I remember my parents as always, truly the memory of the righteous is blessed❤️ Celebrate in heaven as we celebrate on earth.” (sic)
Then, as she basked in the euphoria of being the bride’s sister, she wrote:
“This is the day that the lord has made ???
Let me introduce myself …. I am the sister of the Bride #stabieverafter #EgbonIyawoactivated.” (sic)
Though once married to fitness expert, Maje Ayida, Toke is now separated and in 2016 filed for divorce in a Lagos high court over what she terms, “irreconcilable differences.”
