President Bola Tinubu has directed the deployment of a specialised security team equipped with advanced rescue capabilities to strengthen efforts aimed at securing the release of pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Ogbomoso, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The directive was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

According to the statement, Tinubu also approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in partnership with the Oyo State Government to support ongoing search-and-rescue operations and improve security in the affected areas.

To reassure residents and assess the situation, a federal government delegation visited the Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire LGA on Sunday, where the President’s directives were communicated to community members.

The delegation was led by Femi Gbajabiamila and included Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu, Defence Minister Christopher Musa, and the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare.

The federal government said the new measures are part of intensified efforts to locate the victims and ensure their safe return while strengthening security across vulnerable communities in the state.
