President Bola Tinubu has concluded his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Lagos, where he is expected to meet political leaders and associates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Tinubu left Paris on Tuesday and is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos later in the day, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The President began his European trip on August 30, when he departed Abuja for London. He spent a week in the United Kingdom before proceeding to Paris.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu decided to return to Nigeria through Lagos to pay tribute to the late Chief MKO Abiola, who won the June 1993 presidential election and played a prominent role in Nigeria’s democratic history.
As part of activities marking Independence Day on October 1, the President is expected to attend the premiere of a film celebrating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
Tinubu is also scheduled to hold meetings with political figures and associates during his stay in the state.
“While in Lagos, President Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 elections,” the statement read.
The President’s stay in France featured several engagements, including a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.
He also held meetings with business figures, among them Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose interests in the media and digital sectors include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
