President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made his first public appearance following revelations regarding his academic records from Chicago State University (CSU) in the United States.
Last week, CSU released Tinubu’s academic records following a court order from the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
These records were requested by Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as part of a challenge to Tinubu’s victory.
The release of these documents has led to controversy and allegations of discrepancies and forgery.
There were claims that Tinubu had forged his certificate after CSU initially stated that they hadn’t issued him the diploma he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
However, it has been pointed out that US law allows students to print their diplomas from third-party vendors, and transcripts are used to verify academic records.
In a tweet from his official Twitter handle, President Tinubu stated that he remains focused on his mandate to move the country forward.
He mentioned receiving a briefing from SGF Akume at the State House and emphasized the need for all hands to be on deck to position the nation for progress.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has sought permission from the Supreme Court to file fresh forgery evidence against President Tinubu.
The legal battle and controversies surrounding Tinubu’s academic records may continue to be a subject of debate and scrutiny.
