Ikorodu School Suspends Teacher Over Abuse Of Three-Year-Old Pupil

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has confirmed the arrest of a teacher accused of physically abusing a three-year-old boy at a school in Ikorodu.

This development followed a widely shared video that surfaced online, showing the teacher, identified as Stella Nwadigo, allegedly slapping the child, Abayomi Michael.

The video, originally shared by a user known as #dammiedammie35 on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has drawn widespread condemnation.

In response to the incident, the DSVA released a statement on Wednesday, thanking individuals who brought the troubling footage to their notice.

The agency’s statement reads: “We are grateful to everyone who flagged this disturbing case involving a teacher caught on video abusing a young child. We are pleased to inform the public that the suspect has been apprehended by Owutu FSU, and investigations are currently underway.”

Highlighting the state’s zero-tolerance stance on abuse, the agency reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that schools remain safe environments for children.

“Educational institutions must provide secure and nurturing spaces for all children. The Lagos State Government is dedicated to safeguarding children’s well-being by enforcing strict measures, holding perpetrators accountable, and fostering a culture of protection against all forms of abuse,” the statement added.

The DSVA also encouraged anyone with further information about this case or similar incidents to contact them via their toll-free hotline (08000 333 333) or through direct messages on social media.

This case has reignited public concern about child safety in schools, with many calling for stricter oversight to prevent such incidents in the future.
