The incident, according to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication covering the Lake Chad region, occurred around 6am on Friday at Sierra 7, a military defensive position in Damboa Local Government Area.

The injured personnel was said to have received first aid treatment on site before being moved to a field ambulance unit for further medical care.
Makama noted that the soldier involved was immediately disarmed and detained by military authorities, pending investigation and possible disciplinary measures.
