Actress Sola Sobowale has revealed the reasons she dumped acting temporarily and relocated to England with her children.
The 57-year-old in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, disclosed that she jettisoned her career in order for her children to not only study abroad but have better home training.
The actress who said she took all her kids abroad to study, was initially returning to work in Nollywood in Nigeria. But she was jolted into reality on her second visit when she discovered that the kids had changed.
Then, she took a decision to stay put and keep an eye on the kids.
The mother of five explained, “Today strike, tomorrow strike, a course of three years becomes six years. So,I let my children leave Nigeria. That was why I moved my children out of Nigeria to London. I took them to England, I put them in school, I came back to Nigeria I was monitoring them. Months after I went back to see them and they weren’t the kids that I took.
“That motherly touch was not there and I said ‘ah! to your tent oh Israel, I am here with my children. Forget stardom’. That was why I left Nigeria, to make them somebody in life and to God be the glory they are successful now all of them are working and they said to me, ‘mummy thank You for sacrificing now its time to go back to what you do best,” she said.
Sola won the best actress award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) 2019 for her role in Kemi Adetiba’s blockbuster movie, ‘King of Boys.’
The movie star also won the 2019 New Vision International Film Festival (NVIFF) Lifetime Achievement Award.
