Music executive Soso Soberekon has stirred reactions after offering Psquare singer Peter Okoye N500 million to step into the boxing ring with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
Soberekon made the unusual proposal while Peter was performing at a nightclub. In a video circulating online, the music executive was seen displaying his phone, with a message on the screen offering Peter N500 million for a celebrity boxing fight against Paul.
The development comes as the Okoye brothers remain embroiled in a public dispute that has continued since the collapse of their music partnership.
Peter and Paul achieved widespread fame as Psquare in the early 2000s, producing several hit songs and establishing themselves as one of Africa’s most successful music duos.
The brothers first parted ways in 2017 following disagreements, including tensions surrounding their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who managed the group.
They eventually reconciled in 2021 and returned to performing together, holding their first major concert after their reunion in December of the same year.
The peace was short-lived, however, as Paul announced in 2024 that Psquare had broken up again. He also alleged that Peter was connected to his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Since then, the disagreement has increasingly played out in public, with Peter recently making fresh allegations concerning their music catalogue and royalty earnings.
Peter claimed last week that Jude had excluded him from proceeds generated from Psquare’s catalogue, including a reported $25,000 payment. He also alleged that he was not listed as a signatory on one of the accounts allegedly used to receive royalties.
Jude has rejected the allegations, while Paul has said he no longer wants to be involved in the continuing dispute.

Their elder brother, Henry Okoye, has also commented on the family conflict, accusing Jude of contributing to the prolonged disagreement among the siblings.
Against this backdrop, Soberekon’s N500 million boxing proposal has added another dramatic dimension to the ongoing Psquare saga.
It remains unclear whether Peter or Paul has responded to or accepted the proposed celebrity boxing match.
