Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has told members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) all over the country to avoid problems that could split the party and instead work on keeping it together.
This is what the governor said at a party retreat for elected leaders on Saturday in Bauchi.
During his comments at the retreat, Makinde made it clear that the party needs to be fixed right away.
In his speech to the crowd, the governor told party members to accept peace and stop worrying that internal fighting during the general elections would cause the party to split.
He told the governors who worked for him to keep the party together and, even more important, to think ahead.
I’d like to end by saying that governments come and go, but our country stays the same. And, as a responsible minority party, we must act when it’s in the best interests of the country. “If there is no Nigeria, there is no us,” Makinde said.
