The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Abike Dabiri-Erewa as the chairman/chief executive officer of Nigerian Diaspora Commission.
The Senate had since November 2018 received the letter seeking confirmation of her appointment.
Mrs Dabiri-Erewa, currently the senior special adviser to the president on foreign affairs and diaspora, was a member of House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in Lagos from 2003 to 2015.
She chaired the Committee on Diaspora Affairs during her time at the House of Representatives.
The 56-year-old also sponsored the bill seeking the establishment of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations, Rose Oko, on Thursday made the case for her appointment before she was confirmed.
