Earlier in her welcome address, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Buzz News Media, Mrs. Funmi Olowosegun said the idea of the awards was conceived based on the need to honour, encourage and celebrate deserving individuals who have contributed, impacted and endeared immense growth to the Nigerian society in areas including, but not limited to three sectors of Entrepreneurship, Security and Technology.

“At Buzznews Media, we believe in total media communications and the need to be part of the development of our country in our own little way.

“Moreso, we have painstakingly considered the diverse plights of women in our peculiar society, which formed the need for the topic of our lecture. Indeed, we believe that our nation has a future and we have a role to play in ensuring that we realise the best for our society at this interesting time,” she said.

Olowosegun stressed that her desire is to position the award and lecture as an annual event and “continually propel our role as authoritative and investigative journalists in our celebration of excellence and celebrity reportage as much as possible.”

Delivering a lecture on the topic; “The Role Of Women In Strategic Leadership Socio-Cultural Economy and Business Innovations: Issues and Prospects,” the guest lecturer at the event, Princess Feyikemi Egbeyemi said time has come for women to position themselves so that they could be part of the economic development of the nation.

Egbeyemi stated that women should not see themselves as liability and that they should prove that they could compete with men.

According to her; “women have been contributing a lot to the development of Nigeria. As a woman, I am involved in so many things and I am an employer of labour as I have many people working with me in my recycling plant.”

The awards event witnessed music, dance and celebrations as top comedian, Baba De Baba entertained the guests with rib-cracking jokes.
