Sanwo-Olu Names Acting Auditor-General

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has nominated Dr Olufunke Omolara Tayo-Makanjuola for appointment as the Acting Auditor-General of the state, pending confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The nomination was announced in Circular No. CIR/HOS/’26/052 dated July 28, 2026, issued by the Office of the Head of Service, according to a statement released by the Lagos State Government.

The statement noted that the appointment takes effect from July 28, 2026.

Before the nomination, Tayo-Makanjuola served as the Head of Directorate, Government Accounts.

“Before her nomination for the appointment, Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola served as the Head of Directorate, Government Accounts, where she distinguished herself through exceptional professionalism, integrity, and dedication to public financial management,” the statement read.

Born on September 20, 1974, in Ikate-Elegushi, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, Tayo-Makanjuola holds a Doctor of Business Administration in International Business from Lagos State University, Ojo. She also earned a Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, as well as Higher National Diploma and National Diploma certificates in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.

She also possesses an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Intelligence from the University of Lagos.

The government added that she is a Fellow and member of several professional organisations, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Directors and the Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals.

According to the statement, she was also recognised with the Distinguished Woman of Peace and Honour Award by the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre for her contributions to society.

The Office of the State Auditor-General expressed confidence in her ability to lead the institution.

“The Management and Staff of the Office of the State Auditor-General congratulate Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola on her well-deserved nomination and express confidence in her ability to provide visionary leadership that will further strengthen accountability, transparency, and excellence in public sector auditing across Lagos State,” the statement said.

The office also commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for the appointment.

“The Office also appreciates His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, for his confidence in Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola’s capacity to lead the Office and advance the State’s commitment to good governance and prudent management of public resources,” it added.
