Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday toured several communities affected by recent flooding to assess the impact of heavy rainfall and evaluate the government’s ongoing response to the situation.
The governor was accompanied on the inspection by Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat and other top government officials overseeing environmental management, drainage and infrastructure.
Also on the tour were the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab; Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso; Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Olumide Oluyinka; Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola; Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile; Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources, Mahmood Adegbite; and the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Noheem Adams.

During the visit, the governor inspected flood-affected areas to determine the extent of damage caused by the recent downpour, examine the condition of drainage infrastructure and review measures already put in place to reduce the impact of flooding on residents.
The inspection forms part of the Lagos State Government’s continued efforts to improve drainage networks and strengthen flood control measures as the rainy season progresses.
