Sanusi Begins Life In Loko, Nasarawa State

Muhammadu Sanusi II, the deposed emir of Kano has arrived in Loko, Nasarawa state, where he is expected to begin a life in exile.
He arrived the town on Tuesday at 3am.
Confirming the arrival of the deposed Emir, the traditional ruler of Loko, Abubakar Ahmed Sabo, said Muhammadu Sanusi II, is in his palace.
Sanusi was banished from Kano and sent into exile in Nasarawa following his dethronement on Monday by the Kano state government led by Abdullahi Ganduje, the state governor.
Sabo, who said the ex-emir arrived at his palace at 3 am, said nobody would be allowed to speak with him.
“Yes, Emir Sanusi is in my palace. He arrived this morning around 3 a.m., but no one will be allowed to speak with him,” Sabo said.
Meanwhile, Sanusi spoke on his dethronement via a video released. Accepting all the events that led to his new status in good faith, he didn’t fail to acknowledge it as an act of God.
“The one who gives, has taken. Leadership is given to one to keep and when it’s time, the person has to give it back. God has already fore-planned when one will stay or leave and that’s why we have taken in good faith everything that has happened. We agree, we are grateful, we are cheerful. We thank the people of Kano for all the love they have shown us thus far, for the followership, and obedience,” Sanusi said in a video.
Muhammad Sanusi II was on Monday dethroned by the Kano State government and banished to Loko in Nasarawa State.
According to the Secretary to the State government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, who made the announcement after the State Executive Council meeting, the dethronement is in line with the provision of Kano state Emirate Council Law 2019.
“Section 11 (1) of the Law has empowered the governor to appoint Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the emir of Kano,” he said.
Alhaji said the four kingmakers of Kano emirate had earlier recommended the appointment of Aminu Ado Bayero as the emir of Kano.
Bayero is the 15th emir of Fulani.
Until his appointment as emir of Kano, Bayero was the Emir of Bichi, one of the four newly created emirates.
