Founder and senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, has rejected a N30 million donation from the Kebbi State Government during a healing and deliverance crusade held at the Haliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi.
The event, held on Wednesday, drew a large crowd and marked a major stop in the Dunamis nationwide gospel crusades.
During the programme, a government official mounted the stage to announce the donation on behalf of the state governor, Nasir Idris.
Addressing the audience, the representative said: “Our Governor, the people’s governor, had graciously approved the donation of the sum of N30 million to this gathering.
“That is to the organising committee. Which you know that whenever His Excellency made a donation, he do not leave without bringing that donation in cash.”
However, before the crowd could respond, a firm “No, no” rang out from the microphone, later confirmed to be the voice of Pastor Becky Enenche, wife of the senior pastor.
Despite her interjection, the announcer continued: “Before I leave this place, I want to present that N30 Million in cash.”
Mrs Enenche stood her ground, responding again with a calm, “Just hold on,” as sections of the crowd cheered in support of her intervention.
Shortly afterward, Paul Enenche addressed the situation directly, explaining the church’s stance on financial propriety:
“We believe government money should be used for government project, and government things, and church money should be used for church things, not mixed together,” he said, receiving applause from the audience.
He went on to reveal that the Dunamis Glory Dome, located in Abuja and recognised as one of the largest church auditoriums in the world, was built “without a single kobo from any government.”
The incident has since sparked reactions online, with many praising the Enenches for their transparency.
Pastor Enenche, who is also a medical doctor, has become one of Nigeria’s most influential clerics, known for his fiery sermons and large-scale evangelistic campaigns.
