Premier League: Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has acknowledged the precariousness of his position following a dismal run of form that has left the club languishing in 14th place in the Premier League.
The 39-year-old Portuguese coach, who succeeded Erik ten Hag mid-season in the Premier League, has suffered five defeats in his first 10 games in charge—the worst start by a United manager in nearly a century.
The latest setback came with a 2-0 loss to Wolves on Thursday in the Premier League, marking United’s third consecutive defeat in all competitions.
“I know that if we don’t win, every manager is in danger, and I like that because that is the job,” Amorim said. “But at this moment, it’s really hard. We have to survive to have time and then improve the team.”
Bruno Fernandes’ red card and a goal directly from Matheus Cunha’s corner compounded United’s woes at Molineux. Amorim admitted the uphill battle of turning the club’s fortunes around, particularly after arriving mid-season, but emphasized his focus on resilience and progress.
With pressure mounting, United will face an in-form Newcastle on Monday, their final match of 2024. The result could prove pivotal for Amorim as he strives to navigate the turbulent start to his Old Trafford tenure.
