Premier League: Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola pointed to the absence of key players as a significant factor in his team’s 2-2 draw with Brentford in the Premier League on Tuesday.

Despite taking a commanding 2-0 lead through Phil Foden’s brace, City conceded late goals to Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard, surrendering valuable points in the Premier League.
Guardiola highlighted the impact of injuries to key defenders Ruben Dias and John Stones, as well as midfield anchor Rodri, noting their absence left the team vulnerable to Brentford’s aerial prowess.
We have another type of player right now, and at the end, we could not defend that situation,” Guardiola admitted during the post-match press conference. “They put six, seven players in the box, crosses, and sometimes they are better.”
The City manager was seen animatedly interacting with goalkeeper Stefan Ortega after the final whistle. Guardiola later clarified he praised Ortega for his passing and overall performance, despite the German failing to prevent Norgaard’s equaliser in stoppage time.
While acknowledging Brentford’s quality, Guardiola expressed frustration with his side’s decision-making in critical moments. What I missed today especially was that we didn’t take the right decision in the final third,” he said, lamenting wasted opportunities to extend their lead.

City’s draw further emphasizes the challenge of maintaining form amidst injuries, with Guardiola commending Brentford as a “really tough opponent” while ruing another missed opportunity to secure three points.
