Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has expressed his hope that 2025 will finally bring silverware to the Gunners, as they remain determined to end their near-miss streak.

Despite a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ipswich that moved them to second in the Premier League, Arsenal are still six points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand and are in imperious form.

Reflecting on Arsenal’s aspirations in the Premier League, Rice told Amazon Prime, “Hopefully the new year brings trophies – we’ve been pushing for that. To make the next step to be amongst the elite, you have to win stuff. We can keep winning games, but it means nothing if you don’t win nothing.”

The England international acknowledged Liverpool’s dominance under Arne Slot, describing their relentless performance as “full throttle” and admitting that Arsenal will need external help to close the gap. “We need someone to help us out so they can drop points as we can only focus on ourselves,” Rice added.

Arsenal’s pursuit of the Premier League title has been further complicated by a significant setback: Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury, which could see the star winger sidelined until March. Rice emphasized the need for others to step up in Saka’s absence. “He’s been our main man. We’re going to have to adapt. It’s a great chance for players to step up over the coming months and make their mark,” he said.

Rice also noted his resurgence following England’s taxing run to the Euro 2024 final. “I had a slow start after the Euros, but the last couple of weeks I’ve found my feet again and I’m feeling back to myself,” he concluded.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that Rice’s optimism and leadership can inspire the squad to achieve their long-awaited triumphs in the months ahead.
