Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has spoken about his unfinished education, revealing that he plans to return to school despite building a successful music career.

In a preview of the Honest Brunch Podcast, set to air on YouTube on Monday, the controversial artiste recounted how financial difficulties cut short his academic journey and expressed his determination to earn a certificate one day.

Portable said he had to abandon his studies after he could no longer afford the fees, even though he made several efforts to stay in school.

“I go still finish school as I dey like this. I no finish school,” he said.

The singer explained that he lacked anyone who could sponsor his education, making it impossible for him to continue.

“I no see anybody to sponsor me again. The school fees is high. I go still finish school as I dey like this,” he added.

Portable disclosed that he was admitted into Kwara State Polytechnic through the school’s indigene quota and studied Business Administration before withdrawing from the programme.

Looking back, he described leaving the institution as one of the biggest regrets of his life.

Despite not completing his education, Portable said life has taken an unexpected turn, as he now carries major responsibilities within his family.

He recalled being labelled academically weak while growing up but noted that he currently provides for his father and contributes significantly to his family’s wellbeing.

“Person wey dem dey call olodo for my family na me still dey feed my papa now,” he said.

While insisting that education remains valuable, the singer argued that success does not always depend on earning a university degree. He encouraged young people to remain hopeful, saying there are different paths to achieving success.

“It is not a must you finish school before you get am. You fit go get am from outside and come back finish school. I go still finish school as I dey like this,” Portable said.
