Nigerian singer Portable and Nollywood actor Charles Okocha are preparing to revive their celebrity boxing rivalry as they step back into the ring for a rematch scheduled for July 31.
The event, tagged ‘Unfinished Business’, is set to take place at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Announcing the showdown, organisers promised an intense contest and declared: “Here comes the chaos! Africa, the stage is set. Now we settle the score. Portable, Charles Okocha, Agbaje, Musa. Four fighters, one ring, no more talk. July 31st.”
The upcoming bout comes three years after their first boxing encounter, which ended with Portable securing victory.
Their dispute began in 2023 after Portable publicly accused Okocha of failing to fulfil financial obligations linked to an endorsement arrangement.
In November of that year, the singer alleged that the actor did not pay him N20 million as agreed.
Responding at the time, Okocha dismissed the allegations and claimed Portable was the one who initially contacted him in search of “friendship.” He explained that he later invited the singer to an event because he “wanted to help a brother.”
Okocha also argued that Portable contributed little to the event and maintained there was no official agreement in place. Despite that, he said he still sent the singer “a whopping N5 million” afterward.
