In a successful operation, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force rescued Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, wife of former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, after her abduction by gunmen in the Arepo area of Ogun State.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the rescue on Thursday, noting that police operatives neutralized two kidnappers during a gun battle in the swampy creeks of Ikorodu.

Mrs. Odumosu, who was abducted at approximately 9:45 PM on January 16, 2025, outside her residence, was found unharmed. She has since been reunited with her family and is undergoing medical evaluation.

Adejobi explained that the operation involved intelligence gathering and surveillance supported by Force Headquarters’ technical platforms. The raid, which occurred in the early hours of January 23, also led to the recovery of N10 million ransom money, four AK-47 rifles, three locally made single-barrel rifles, and assorted ammunition.

“The police operatives demonstrated commendable gallantry in this operation. This rescue underscores our commitment to combating kidnapping and ensuring public safety,” Adejobi stated.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the efforts of Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team, reaffirming the Force’s dedication to eradicating violent crimes across the country.

This remarkable rescue serves as a reminder of the Nigerian Police Force’s resolve to protect citizens and uphold justice.
