Ogun State Police Command’s successful tactical operation on September 24, 2023, resulted in the arrest of notorious cult members. SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the arrests.

The operation was a collaborative effort involving the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, the Anti-Cultism Unit (AKU), and the Obalende Division of the police force.

Acting on credible intelligence, the operation targeted suspected cultists responsible for instigating fear and violence in various areas, including Odogbolu, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, and Ilishan.

The arrested individuals, including the kingpin of the Eiye Confraternity, Ogunnibi Hammed, are known for their involvement in brutal clashes with rival cult groups in Ogun State.

The list of detainees also includes Sodipo Azeez (Bintobo), Ilori Gbenga, Lamina Yusuf, Kolawole Rasaq, Adelaja Otusanya, Adeyemi Soneye, Oseni Toheeb, Thank God Naba, Lekan Qudus, Adelusi Omotayo, Timothy Monday Ayomide Ishmael, Oboje Jeremiah, Ayoola Oladayo, Jacob Chidi, John Innocent, Ayangbile Victor, and Jacob Sunday.

All the suspects have admitted to being active members of various cult groups.

The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has ordered an immediate investigation into the arrested individuals.
