The Ogun State Police Command has handed over TikTok influencer Abigeal Nsikak, popularly known as Mirabel, to the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development after she voluntarily reported at a police station in connection with her widely publicised rape allegation.
Confirming the development in a statement shared on X on Wednesday, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said Mirabel presented herself willingly and has been fully cooperating with investigators.
He disclosed that the influencer underwent a thorough medical examination as part of the investigation.
“In consideration of her welfare and support needs, she has been released to the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
“The Ministry has undertaken responsibility for her care and has assured the Command that she will be made available whenever required as investigations continue,” the statement read.
The police assured the public that the case is being handled with utmost professionalism, sensitivity, and diligence. They also appealed for restraint, urging Nigerians to avoid speculation and allow investigators to carry out their duties without interference, promising updates as the case progresses.
The incident gained nationwide attention in mid-February after Mirabel posted emotional videos on TikTok, alleging that her home in Ogijo, Ogun State, was invaded and that she was sexually assaulted. The videos sparked widespread outrage, drawing reactions from celebrities and prompting public donations.
However, her claims later came under intense scrutiny online following reported inconsistencies, including the absence of phone records and a lack of physical evidence suggesting forced entry at the scene.

In a subsequent conversation with activist VeryDarkMan, Mirabel reportedly admitted that she might not have been raped, leading to calls in some quarters for her prosecution over alleged false claims.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the case, and investigations remain ongoing without prejudice to the eventual outcome.
The Ogun State Police Command reiterated its commitment to handling reports of sexual violence with seriousness while ensuring fairness, due process, and respect for the rule of law.
