Veteran actor Pete Edochie has clarified his seniority in Nollywood, emphasizing that he was already engaged in cinema projects before the inception of the Nigerian film industry.
This clarification comes in response to claims made by his colleague, Kanayo O Kanayo, asserting his seniority in Nollywood.
Edochie pointed out that his involvement in the movie industry predated the establishment of Nollywood, citing his iconic role in “Things Fall Apart” in 1985, a time when the film industry was still in its infancy.
His exceptional performance in the acclaimed movie catapulted his career to national and international prominence.
Edochie recounted how his role garnered attention from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), leading to an interview and recognition of his impact on the global stage.
As a testament to his significance, Edochie was invited to meet with Chinua Achebe, the revered author of the book that inspired “Things Fall Apart,” solidifying his respected status in the Nigerian film industry.
