Lagos State Police have confirmed that cleric Chris Okafor, founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, has turned himself in for investigation following allegations of sexual assault and murder.
The probe was launched on Sunday after the accusations gained widespread attention on social media.
The controversy escalated when an anonymous individual, reportedly hiding in Port Harcourt, claimed he was hired by Okafor to commit murder.
These recent claims also tie into earlier accusations made by actress Doris Ogala, who alleged that Okafor had knowledge of the poisoning and death of her brother.
In response to public concern, Olohundare Jimoh, Lagos State Police Commissioner, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti to begin a thorough investigation.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that Okafor was formally invited to report to the SCID by 10 a.m. on Monday, citing fears that the allegations could disturb public peace.

However, the cleric initially failed to appear in person, communicating only through his lawyer. Commissioner Jimoh said this prompted the issuance of an arrest warrant.
“When he was invited, he got to us through his lawyer, who said he would be appearing on Monday. So, on Monday, we waited for him. We did not see him, and I directed that he should be arrested,” Jimoh stated.
“Subsequently, he showed up yesterday (Tuesday). Yes, he showed up yesterday.”
Jimoh added that the case has also been lodged with the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police and has now been transferred to Zone 2 Command for further investigation.
He further confirmed that the police have ordered immediate security measures to ensure the protection of the alleged victims.
