What makes a successful marriage? Definitely not sex because by the time the couples get older, that would wane.
But love never wanes.
That was the submission proffered by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye.
Love? Yes. That was what has sustained his 55-year-old union with wife, Folu.
They marked their 55th wedding anniversary on September 8, 2022.
Pastor Adeboye is 80, while his wife clocked 74 in July.
Prior to Daddy G.O’s submission, he had in some previous social media posts, revealed seven romantic things his 74-year-old wife still does to tickle him.
Among the things she does, the man of God in 2020, revealed that his wife, who is fondly called Mummy G.O, Adeboye still cooks his food, serves him at the dining table, trims his nails, makes him know and feels that he is the head, and always,says yes to his instructions no matter how hard it seems.
Citing that his wife remains his number one fan, Adeboye recently recalled how she left wealthy men and chose him, a poor man.
In an Instagram post he shared while celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary, he wrote, “My darling @pastorfoluadeboye the woman who has suffered with me, she stood by me when we had nothing. I was the poorest and the least known of all the men after her 55yrs ago. But she left all those who were famous, well to do and she picked me. Thank God, God had made us a success and proven all the oppostions back then wrong. Here is to 55 more years of double love, double grace, double peace, double of heaven on earth.”
The pair got married in 1967 shortly after Adeboye completed his first degree at the University of Lagos graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.
Their union has produced four children — three boys and a girl.
