Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has raised concerns over the conduct of Saturday’s governorship election, citing alleged Bimodal Voter Accreditation System malfunctions and intimidation of voters in some parts of the state.

Adeleke, speaking during an interview with Osun Radio, said he had received reports from several polling units that the BIVAS machines were either malfunctioning or taking too long to accredit voters.

He also alleged that thugs were disrupting the voting process in Olorunda and Irewole Local Government Areas.

The governor specifically mentioned a man identified as Enuku and his associates, accusing them of intimidating voters.

“Right now, there are complaints that BIVAS are not working well. I am not happy at all. The police are aiding the APC. Enuku, the thug, is disturbing people,” Adeleke said.

According to him, the slow accreditation process was frustrating voters who had turned out to participate in the election.

“People came out to vote, but the machine is slow. It is not working well. INEC should find a solution. My people are being chased in Ikire. I am still watching them. I don’t know if the police are working for APC. I am still watching,” he added.

Adeleke also questioned the conduct of security personnel in Olorunda, while urging his supporters not to be discouraged by the reported incidents.

“In Olorunda, they are behaving anyhow. My advice is that my people should vote and defend their votes. Don’t be afraid. It is just for one day,” he said.

The governor called on voters to remain calm and ensure that their ballots were protected as the exercise continued across the state.
