The Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, resumed normal legislative duties at the National Assembly complex on Tuesday.
The former governor of Abia State arrived at the Senate wing of the nation’s parliament at exactly 9:00 am and exchanged pleasantries with his colleagues and acknowledged greetings from legislative staff and security operatives.
Orji told journalists on Tuesday that he thanked God for what happened, also urged Nigerians to keep hope alive.
Taking to twitter an hour ago, he wrote in the Yoruba language that ‘Ati lo, Ati de,” meaning, ‘We have gone and we have returned.”
He tweeted, “By the grace of Almighty God,I resumed my normal legislative duties & I remain committed.I encourage us all be thankful in every circumstance of our lives. Let me conclude in the language of the good people of the Southwest by saying “Ati lo ati de”.
Kalu was released after over six months of incarceration at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
The Senator and others, were in December last year, convicted and sentenced for N7.1bn fraud.
