President Bola Tinubu has been cautioned on his intervention in the ongoing political debacle in Ondo State.
This was the stance of some critical stakeholders in Ondo State led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr Kayode Ajulo.
Speaking on a televised interview last Friday on Silverbird Television, Ajulo made this assertion as a guest on ‘Inside Politics With CKN’, a political programme.
Dr Ajulo observed that constitutional provisions relating to the matter must be adhered to the letter and also cautioned on the alleged tripartite committee set up to administer the affairs of the state.
Describing the alleged tripartite committee as unconstitutional, the erudite lawyer further explained that if proven that the current governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has been incapacitated, then the Deputy Governor, Aiyedatiwa should be sworn in as the Acting Governor.
In the same vein, Ajulo who was recently elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) posited on the role of the Judiciary in the ongoing political litigations in the courts, applauding that the judiciary has not done badly in their judgements but there is always room for improvement.
Asked to comment on the appointment of INEC Chairman by the President, Dr Ajulo stated that by the provision of the 1999 constitution as amended, the President has the power to appoint INEC Chairman.
But he frowned upon the appointment of card carrying members of political parties as INEC officials, stating that where it is established that such appointments were made, it should be reversed immediately for equity and fairness.
