Nigerian businessman and philanthropist Olakunle Churchill has dismissed reports claiming he was arrested in Switzerland over an alleged tax evasion case, describing the allegations as false.
Reports circulating on social media had alleged that Churchill, the ex-husband of Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh, was arrested in Switzerland in connection with a tax-related investigation.
The reports also claimed that an associate linked to the businessman was being investigated over a company involved in agricultural importation and international trade, with suggestions that the firm had ties to Churchill Group of Companies.
Reacting to the claims in a post shared on his Instagram page, Churchill lamented what he described as the culture of jealousy, negativity and the spread of unverified information among Nigerians.
He stressed that his decision to keep parts of his personal and business life private should not be interpreted as an attempt to conceal wrongdoing.
Churchill insisted he is not facing any police investigation, court case or criminal charges.

“We Nigerians can sometimes be our own biggest problem. The jealousy, negativity, and constant spread of false information are exhausting.
“In today’s digital world, misinformation can spread quickly, but truth has a way of standing the test of time.
“Over the years, I have chosen to keep many aspects of my personal and business life private. That choice should never be mistaken for having something to hide. Privacy is a principle I value, and I intend to keep it that way.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I have no police case, no court case, and no criminal matter whatsoever. Any claims suggesting otherwise are entirely false and should be treated as such.
“It is unfortunate that, rather than celebrating progress and encouraging one another, some individuals choose to spread unverified stories to discredit others. While such actions are disappointing, they will not distract me from my purpose.
“My focus remains on building businesses, creating opportunities, supporting meaningful causes, and continuing the work that truly matters. Those who know me understand that my values, actions, and consistency speak far louder than speculation.
“I remain grateful to God for His grace and protection. Truth requires no defence; only time. I will continue to move forward with integrity, dignity, and unwavering faith.”
Churchill’s response comes amid growing online speculation over the alleged arrest, as he maintains that the reports are baseless and insists his attention remains on his businesses and philanthropic activities.
