Okpebholo Presents Edo 2025 Budget As Gov Struggles To Pronounce “N605bn”

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo on Tuesday struggled to pronounce the figures for the state’s 2025 budget.

The governor stuttered severally as he tried to pronounce N605 billion for the 2025 fiscal year at the Edo State House of Assembly.

“It’s confusing me,” Okpebholo said, causing noise among state lawmakers.

However, the speaker of the assembly called for order.

The budget titled “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo” reflects a 25 percent increase over the 2024 budget.

Okpebholo said that 37 percent of the total budget, amounting to N223 billion, would be allocated to recurrent expenditure while the remaining N381 billion (63 percent) would go toward capital projects.

“This budget is a product of extensive consultations and embodies my administration’s commitment to achieving its five-point agenda: security, infrastructural development, healthcare, food sufficiency and education,” he stated.

Highlighting key initiatives, the governor noted that N162 billion would be dedicated to road infrastructure.
