A legal battle over the estate of the late Adebayo Alao-Akala has brought to light a vast array of properties owned by the former Oyo State governor. The dispute surfaced during proceedings at an Oyo State High Court, where Oluwatoyin Alao Aderinto, the deceased’s first daughter, challenged the administration of his estate.

Aderinto, in suit I/443/2024, contends that she holds both legal and equitable interests in her father’s estate. She alleged that some assets had already been sold without her consent, and that there were ongoing attempts to dispose of additional properties or enter joint venture arrangements involving the estate.

Defendants in the case include Oluwakemi Alao-Akala and Olamide Alabi, identified as executors and administrators of the estate. The court has restrained the defendants from selling or engaging in any transactions concerning the properties until the suit is resolved and has ordered an accelerated hearing.

Aderinto is also seeking court approval for DNA tests on herself and six others—Olamide, Adebukola, Olamipo, Olamiju (a current member of the House of Representatives), Tabitha, and Olamikunle—to establish their biological relationship with the late governor. She requested that her father’s remains be exhumed for the tests, with results submitted under seal to the presiding judge. The court has adjourned the matter to April 16, 2026, for ruling.
