The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that TikTok creator Mirabel, who previously claimed she was sexually assaulted in her home, is now in police custody for further investigation.
Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command’s Public Relations Officer, told TheCable Lifestyle on Friday that the situation is being thoroughly reviewed.
Mirabel first attracted attention after posting distressing TikTok videos alleging that she was raped at her residence on February 15. Her posts quickly went viral, sparking concern across social media and prompting involvement from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).
Initially, the Lagos DSVA attempted to reach her, but later clarified that the incident fell under Ogun State’s jurisdiction. Conflicting reports then began circulating online, suggesting that Mirabel had been arrested after police allegedly found inconsistencies in her account, such as the absence of forced entry or corroborating witness statements.
Addressing the rumours, Babaseyi clarified on Thursday that Mirabel had voluntarily reported the incident at a police station and was under medical supervision due to her health condition at the time, which delayed formal questioning.
The situation took another turn when controversial social media activist VeryDarkMan shared an audio recording purportedly featuring Mirabel admitting that her rape claim was fabricated. In the recording, she allegedly confessed to self-harming due to depression.
