Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun; former governor, Gbenga Daniel; and Senator Solomon Adeola have expressed condolences to former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, over the passing of his mother, Alhaja Monsurat Bankole.
The matriarch passed away on Friday at 79 after a brief illness and was laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
In a statement by his media adviser, Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun described the late Alhaja Monsurat Bankole as a devout Muslim, a community leader, and a pillar of strength for the Bankole family. He said:
“It is heartbreaking to lose yet another distinguished woman of strength and integrity in Ogun State. May God Almighty grant her soul eternal rest in Al Jannah Firdaus.”
Former Governor Gbenga Daniel also paid tribute, describing her as a compassionate matriarch devoted to her family and community.
“Her passing is not only a loss to the Bankole family but also to the larger Ogun State community, where her impact was deeply felt.”
Senator Solomon Adeola, representing Ogun West, lauded her as a virtuous woman and role model, emphasizing her contributions to national development through her children.
“Her demise is a great loss to her family and Nigeria. May Almighty Allah grant her eternal rest and give the family the strength to bear this loss.”
The late Alhaja Monsurat Bankole was remembered as a source of inspiration, a loving mother, and a pillar of her community. The tributes highlight her enduring legacy of strength, service, and faith.
