Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has formally joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor made this known on Friday afternoon when he led some of his appointees and supporters to the PDP secretariat in Benin-City.
The leadership of the PDP had on Wednesday met with Mr Obaseki who is seeking a second term in office.
Mr Obaseki was disqualified by his former party, APC, from seeking re-election allegedly for submitting questionable certificates.
The Edo governor later announced his resignation from the APC.
However, the APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, whom Mr Obaseki blames for his travails has now been suspended from office, following an appeal court ruling.

Just as his followers and other members of his team were rejoicing at the new political move of the governor, Obaseki has renamed a street formerly known as Adams Oshiomole Crescent after the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Friday.

Obaseki who joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)on Friday, wasted no time in warming himself to his new political party and their leaders.

The governor renamed street in Auchi, Edo state from Adams Oshiomole Crescent to Bukola Saraki Boulevard.

Obaseki is seeking re-election on the platform of the PDP after the All Progressives Congress (APC) disqualified him from seeking a second term.

Obaseki and his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole have been at loggerheads and all peaceful avenue to settle their differences have failed.

Oshiomhole who is the national chairman of the APC has vowed that Obaseki will not return on the platform of the party and has picked Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to succeed him.
