Popular on-air personality, Dotun’s estranged wife, Taiwo Oyebanjo, has been charged with contempt of court due to her refusal to allow Dotun to see his children. The mother of two girls had filed for divorce in Abuja, and this legal action has led to her being found guilty of contempt of court, potentially resulting in a jail term.
The high court in Dukpa, Abuja, found Dotun’s ex-wife guilty of breaching the court’s decision regarding the joint custody of their children. Initially, the court had granted Dotun and his estranged wife shared custody of the children in a specific legal case after Dotun had requested it in April 2022, and both parties had consented.
However, Taiwo refused to allow Dotun access to their children since December 2022, despite the court’s ruling, without providing any reason. In response to her actions, Dotun took legal action, sparking a heated and public social media feud between the two.
The court ruled that Taiwo’s denial of access and custody of the children to Dotun in December 2022 constituted a violation of the court’s order and found her guilty. Additionally, the court ordered Taiwo to pay a fine of N200,000 within 30 days, with the consequence of potential jail time if the fine is not paid.
According to reports, there was some drama when Taiwo’s lawyers attempted to withdraw their representation after the court’s ruling. Nevertheless, the matter was scheduled for trial on December 11th.
