The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has remained tight-lipped following allegations by Lagos-based corps member Ushie Uguamaye, who claims she is being threatened for criticising President Bola Tinubu’s government.

In a viral video shared on her TikTok account, talktoraye, Uguamaye expressed frustration over Nigeria’s economic struggles, inflation, and harsh living conditions.
She described Tinubu as a “terrible leader” and called out the government for failing to address the hardships faced by citizens. She also criticised Lagos, referring to it as a “smelly state” with poor living conditions.
Her video quickly gained traction on social media, sparking widespread discussion. However, after it went viral, Uguamaye posted another video alleging that NYSC officials had threatened her and pressured her to delete the post.
“Dear Nigerians, in less than 24 hours, I’m already getting threatened by the NYSC board! They have my address. If I go silent, you know who to hold accountable. I only spoke the truth about inflation and the hardship we’re facing,” she stated.
Uguamaye vowed not to delete the video, arguing that doing so would allow any punishment against her to go unnoticed. She also claimed that an NYSC official had been asking people to identify her, calling the move “scary” and “intimidating.”
“I exercised my right to free speech. Does being a corps member take away my right as a Nigerian citizen?” she questioned.
