Wishing prospective corps members a safe journey to their states of deployment, the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, advised them to avoid travelling at night and to prioritise their safety.
NYSC management also urged all participants to strictly comply with the orientation timetable to ensure a hitch-free and successful camp experience.
Established in 1973 to promote national unity and integration after the Nigerian Civil War, the NYSC scheme begins with a compulsory three-week orientation course. During this period, corps members participate in paramilitary drills, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training, lectures on national issues, and various cultural and social activities.
The programme is designed to encourage interaction, cooperation, and understanding among young Nigerians from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.
