Family, friends and colleagues from Nigeria’s film industry gathered in Arochukwu, Abia State, on Thursday to bid a final farewell to late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo.

The actor died on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 after battling metastatic kidney cancer.

A funeral service and reception were held at the Mary Slessor School Field in Amanagwu Village before his interment at the family residence in Arochukwu.

Videos shared online captured emotional moments as his casket arrived at the venue, with mourners—including family members and colleagues—seen paying their last respects.

Prominent figures in attendance included IK Ogbonna, Mike Godson, AY Makun, Ini Edo, Nancy Isime, Bimbo Ademoye and businessman Obi Cubana.

Following the public rites, the procession moved to the family compound where the actor was finally laid to rest according to family arrangements.
