Modupe Oguntade, wife of Ambassador Justice Adesola George Oguntade, CFR, CON, Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, celebrated Children’s Day in London with Nigerians in the Diaspora.

The children came from across the UK proudly dressed in Nigerian traditional attire. There were multiple ‘hands on’ learning stations with eager children poring over friendly tutors who taught them how to play the traditional mancala game “Ayo”, Igbo and Hausa songs and dance steps as well as how to play the yoruba talking drums. The fun activities continued with a bouncy castle, face painting, Nigeria map and flag decorating activities, a chance to design personalized masks, story telling sessions with books by Nigerian authors, not to mention the endless flow of Nigerian snacks, meals, slushies, cotton candy, popcorn, drinks etc. Chief Mrs. Oguntade hinted that the objective of the Nigeria Culture Children’s Day 2018 is to engage with the youngest Nigerians in the U.K. and expose them to the rich, and diverse, culture and languages in Nigeria and more centrally to promote Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. The event was planned by Nigerian Culture Kids @ngculturekids
