Suspended Nigerian senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused the Nigerian Senate of operating like a cult, where freedom of speech and expression is completely suppressed.

In an exclusive interview with BBC, Natasha alleged that Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, runs the red chamber like a dictator, instilling fear in lawmakers and silencing the opposition.
Recall that Natasha was suspended after she submitted a petition accusing Akpabio of sexual harassment, a move that triggered her current face-off with the Senate leadership.
According to her, many senators remain silent out of fear of losing their privileges, as anyone who challenges Akpabio risks being “cut to size.”
“The Nigerian Senate operates like a cult. The Senate President runs the Senate like a dictator, not a democrat.
There is no freedom of speech, no freedom of expression, and anyone who dares to go against him gets cut to size,” Natasha, 45, told BBC in her first TV interview.
She further revealed that the system is designed to silence dissenting voices, leaving many lawmakers helpless and unable to defend themselves.
