The Nigerian Army has announced a significant reshuffle in its top ranks, with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Olufemi Oluyede approving new appointments across critical leadership positions.

The redeployment, aimed at enhancing the army’s operational effectiveness, includes new General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Corps Commanders, and a new Commander for the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

Director of Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, noted that the changes are part of a strategic effort to address evolving security challenges and strengthen the fight against terrorism and insurgency.

Key Appointments:

  • GM Mutkut: Appointed Force Commander of the MNJTF, transitioning from the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre to Headquarters MNJTF in N’Djamena, Chad.
  • OT Olatoye: Takes over as GOC 82 Division and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Udoka (OPUK), previously at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry.
  • EF Oyinlola: Assigned as GOC 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), moving from the Department of Military Secretary.
  • AGL Haruna: Confirmed as GOC 7 Division and Commander of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai.

Other Strategic Appointments:

  • GU Chibuisi: Chief of Civil Military Affairs.
  • AS Ndalolo: Chief of Training (Army).
