Nigeria Police Rescue Ex-AIG’s Wife From Ogun Kidnappers After Intense Gun Battle

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Hakeem Odumosu, from her abductors after a daring operation in a swampy Ikorodu creek.

Nigeria Police: Mrs. Odumosu was abducted by four masked men outside her residence in Arepo, Ogun State, on Thursday, January 16, 2025. She endured seven days in captivity before being freed by operatives from the Ogun State police command’s anti-kidnapping unit.

Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that the rescue operation, which occurred early Thursday morning, was intelligence-driven.

Upon locating the kidnappers’ hideout, officers faced heavy gunfire but overpowered the criminals. Two kidnappers were neutralized, while four escaped, abandoning weapons and ransom money.

Recovered items include:

  • Four AK-47 rifles
  • Three single-barrel locally made guns
  • Various ammunition
  • ₦10 million in ransom money

Mrs. Odumosu was rescued unharmed and has since reunited with her family, undergoing medical evaluations as a precaution.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, lauded the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their bravery and professionalism in ensuring justice and public safety.
