Nigerians were once again left without power on Wednesday following the collapse of the national power grid, marking the 12th occurrence in 2024.

The collapse, confirmed via the official handle of Nigeria’s National Grid, happened around 2:09 pm. “The major grid setback has occurred, and the restoration is to commence,” the tweet read.

This latest incident adds to a string of grid failures this year, with three collapses recorded in a single week in October. The outages have caused widespread frustration, with many Nigerians expressing concerns over the stability of the power system.

Since January, the grid has reportedly collapsed 11 times before this latest setback. Experts and citizens alike have called for urgent interventions to address the recurring issue.

Further details are expected as restoration efforts begin.
