When one of Nigeria’s most influential traditional rulers, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi claimed he has a ‘tested’ cure for Coronavirus, he was ignored.

That was in March 2020.

The Ooni, whose domain, Ile-Ife, is considered the origin of the Yorubas in South-Western Nigeria, said he had spiritually identified the possible cure of the disease.

He said a divine proclamation foretelling the coronavirus pandemic came out to the world on June 6, 2019, during the “World Ifa Festival – Otura Meji.”

“We foretold about the impending rage of this invisible pandemic war, but few heard us. Please note that Efod/ Urim and Thurim are in the holy Books. They are the same as our ancient readings that have not failed us till date.

“On this throne, I work very closely with all the nations of the world, most especially the nation of Cuba. Centuries go by, the nation of Cuba hold dearly the tenets of our ancestors and rely on the blessings of the mystery of nature, and as a result they have the best medical care in the world.

“They are the ONLY country that has come out boldly to help the world. The Almighty is above religion and he is moving now, the world will now respect nature WHOLLY. Remember nature does not need you, we all need nature to survive,” he wrote.

The monarch, who has made unrelated controversial claims in the past, said that the herbal product he is recommending has been tested and used to cure chronic coronavirus infection.

But  then, Nigeria decided buying a herbal remedy from Madagascar.

Guinea Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo, who visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja on Saturday, brought the drugs allocated to Nigeria by Madagascar.

During the visit, President Buhari said Nigeria would take the drug through intensive test to determine its suitability.

However, the Republic of Madagascar has asked Nigeria to pay 170,000 Euros (N78million) for the quantity of its COVID-19 cure drugs sent to the Federal Government.

Meanwhile in an Instagram post a week ago, the Ooni of Ife put up this post when the ‘noise’ over whether Nigeria would buy the herbal remedy from Madagascar was intense.

He wrote, “ It’s a shame. The OONI prescribed Herbal Medicine for Nigerians, they didn’t believe him, told him he is not a doctor of what he inherited from his ancestors. Now another country took it up and also upgraded it – Madagascar.

China as a Nation used herbal means to cure for more than 70% of their covid-19 cases. It’s on record.

_

Going forward in this country, let us use local means to proffer local solutions to all our problems. God bless Nigeria and our leaders.”
