Renowned Nollywood actor, John Ikechukwu Okafor, widely recognized as Mr. Ibu, has shared his ordeal from his hospital bed as he confronts a life-threatening illness.
This recent development occurred shortly after the celebrated actor marked his 63rd birthday with his wife, Stella Maris Okafor, and other family members while in the hospital.
Mr. Ibu has been noticeably absent from the spotlight due to his ongoing health issues. In 2019, he disclosed that he had been poisoned by individuals from his village who harbored envy over his successful career.
In 2022, he received the distressing diagnosis of diabetes and kidney failure, which necessitated life-saving surgery at the Zenith Medical and Kidney Center in Abuja.
From his hospital bed, Mr. Ibu has made a heartfelt plea for assistance, expressing concerns that his legs may need to be amputated. He provided his bank details, emphasizing his desire to preserve his limbs.
In his own words, he said, “I have been in a weakened state for several weeks, and all I am seeking is your prayers and support. I am currently hospitalized, and, as I address you, I remain in the hospital. The medical director has mentioned that if his latest approach doesn’t yield the desired results, the best alternative may be to amputate my leg. Just imagine, if they amputate my leg, where will I go? I implore you to pray for me and beseech God Almighty. I am fervently against the idea of losing my leg. May God bless you.”
Additionally, a lady, presumably one of his children, has appealed for financial assistance to aid Mr. Ibu in his battle for recovery. She urged everyone to rally around and support “daddy @realmribu” in any way possible—financially, through prayers, faith, and belief in his recovery.
