The mother of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, Mrs. Abosede Aloba, and actor Yomi Fabiyi, engaged in a heated exchange during a World Press Conference in Lagos on Wednesday.

Fabiyi claimed that Mohbad’s brother, Adura Aloba, had sent him an Instagram message detailing the cause of the singer’s death. However, Mrs. Aloba strongly refuted the accusation, insisting that her son Adura knew nothing about Mohbad’s demise and accused Fabiyi of implicating him unfairly.
Visibly upset, Mrs. Aloba said: “They killed Mohbad, and you want me to lose his brother unjustly. He knows nothing about his brother’s death. Don’t implicate my son. If Mohbad were alive, I wouldn’t be sitting here with you. They took my precious gift, and I won’t let them take Adura too.”
She also revealed that a third party, identified as Damola, had used Adura’s phone to send the message to Fabiyi. She expressed anger over what she described as an attempt to exploit her son’s death for personal gains.
Fabiyi, however, stood by his claim, emphasizing that his focus was on the content of the message rather than the sender’s identity.
He stated: “It was Adura’s handle that sent me the message. I don’t have anything against him. When I saw the message, I thought he wanted to help his brother. If you make a mistake and someone collects N3 million from me, should I keep quiet?”
The exchange underscores the lingering tension surrounding Mohbad’s tragic passing on September 11, 2023. His death at 26 remains a contentious issue, with ongoing investigations uncovering details such as the arrest of an unlicensed nurse who allegedly administered a tetanus vaccine to him shortly before his death.
The controversy continues to spark public debates, as many call for justice for the late singer and transparency in the unfolding events.
